I don’t really think it’s a great loss for CouchSurfing, but apparently Chris Burley is now a former “CouchSurfing Leader and core member of the Tech Team”. The rules for “removal of Leadership Team members” are quite sincere. Now I know that Chris was embarking upon a wonderful study which would take quite some time, but that wouldn’t imply that he’d have to give up his role as a Leader and core member of the tech team. So, what happened, and why?

Chris is doing a Master’s programme in social enterpreneurship on the East Coast of the USA. He’s most probably also still part of the leadership team’s discussions as “consultant” or “observer” of sorts.
He’s possibly also still on the developers’ mailing list (I’ve read a goodbye letter from him on the dev list while I was still there, but maybe he wasn’t kicked out as brutally as I was) – and I’d guess he still plays some role in reviewing the new applicants to the tech team.
Chris was brought on board for a purpose. His did a great job!! Mission accomplished. He didn’t care if he made or lose friends as he knew he was there was a few months . He did get his pound of flesh by getting free stuff while at the collective .
